Love Letters plays out a simple but meaningful concept: a group of people sit in a circle, taking turns to stand in the middle and recite a love letter. The only condition is that the letter must be written by themselves, their parents, relatives, or ancestors to someone else.
Love in this context does not only include romantic love, but also familial, or between friends. A search is underway to locate love letters written by Francis Light or his son’s, William Light. Invited participants include Dato’ Anwar Fazal, poet-lawyer Cecil Rajendra and others, and an open call for participants is currently ongoing.
